Making a house with chopsticks

 

Our school teacher told us to make a house of chopsticks. She told that it will affect to our term test. Because of it, I had to make my house really nice. Actually, I don't like fine arts because I am not good at it. When I was young, my friends told that I am a bad artist. So, I do not like show my pictures to anybody, even my family. First, teacher told us to make an outline of our own house. I imagine a cozy house with a beautiful garden that has lots of flowers. I drew briefly on my paper and measured the sizes. It was hard for me to decide a size of my own house because if the sizes got wrong, I had to make it again. I got help from my dad and he help me cutting the chopsticks too. Cutting chopsticks made me to use lots of strength. When dad and I finish cutting all of them, we started to glue them together. I didn't end making it. However, I hope that it will be a pretty house.

The story of Frankenstein chapter 4&5

1- What realization does Victor have in Chapter 4? What 3 reasons does Victor give for not sharing his realization with his family?

  Victor realized that the monster he created killed his brother, William. He came to Geneva because his father wrote a letter that William was murdered. However, it was too late that the gate of the Geneva was closed. So, he decided to visit the place where his brother was founded. And there, he saw a figure of a gigantic stature in the gloom. Because of this, Victor thinks that William was murdered by his creature. After realizing that, he decided to tell his family everything that he made the murderer. However, he paused and thought about what they might think about him. Himself, who brought a life to the creature and met it in the midnight of the forbidding mountain. They would also think that Victor is a madman. And, it is hard to capture the monster that can climb the steep sides of the mountain.   

2- In Chapter 4, Clerval wants to study Oriental Languages. Which languages would he most likely have studied, and what purpose do you think he would use them for?

  He wanted to study Ingolstadt language. In this story, Clerval proposed Victor to go a walking tour around Ingolstadt with him.

3- In chapter 5, page 36, Victor says: "Sometimes, with my sails set. . . . let loose among them?" Paraphrase this passage, and why does Victor choose to not follow this course of action?
  Sometimes, with my sails set, I was carried by the wind; and sometimes, after rowing into the middle of the lake, I left the boat to go its own way. I was often tempted, when all was at peace around me, to plunge in to the silent lake, which the waters might close over me forever. This means that he planned to commit suicide by throwing his body into the lake. The reason is because he regret of making the creature that killed his brother. And he felt guilty of himself to other family members not telling the truth of what he knew. But I held back when I thought of the heroic and suffering Elizabeth, whom I tenderly loved, and whose life was bound up with mine. I thought also of my father and surviving brother; should I, by departing this world, leave them exposed and unprotected to the violence of the fiend whom I had let loose among them? In this part, Victor thought about his lover, Elizabeth and his family that are very dangerous because of him. The creature might kill them suddenly like William. Also, they might be unhappy and feel sadness. So, Victor gave up to committing suicide.

Viman mek palace

  On the last day of Thai land, we went to palace where last king and queen lived. It was huge and beautiful. However, there were really strict rules. Women should only wear long skirts and man should wear long pants. I do not have any skirts, so mom and I had to buy skirts. It really doesn't look like skirt. It just looked like a long silk. There were many securities. When we just go into the palace, one security told my sister to buy a skirt. Many people told us that she look like a boy. So, we pretend her to be a boy. We were kind of shocked that we could not say anything. However, people who traveled with us told the security that she is a boy. Security didn't believe them. It was really hot day, which everybody was kind of annoyed. The people traveled together almost yelled at him and told him again that she is a boy. The security finally let her go and we looked around the Viman mek palace. It was really beautiful that I reminded myself why Thai land is famous for traveling.

Going to the airport

  On Saturday, we suppose to be at airport on three. However, we spent time on packing our bags. Because of this, we lost the bus that we should ride. We rode a bus that is one hour later than the bus we suppose to ride. During one hour, we just eat and eat. At last, we rode the bus and finally arrived at the airport. We of course lost the meeting. We wandered around to find place to attach our bags. Then we got our airplane tickets. We left only one minute and finally seat on our seat. It was really emergency situation for us. I was really thankful to everybody at that time.

The Story Of Frankenstein chapter 3 - Mary Shelley

  Frankenstein was interested in natural science. He went to a University and met some professors who major natural science. Being close with them, he thought to make a creature. I think the worst reason to make a creature is that Frankenstein tried to become greater than nature. However for human, it is impossible to do it. Even if he does it, it would cause harm to him.

   In this story on page 20, he says "I had no supernatural honors". I think it means that the creature is too ugly or strange. Frankenstein mentioned that he is not afraid of people's appearance although they look strange or ugly. However, Frankenstein gets afraid of the appearance of the monster. Monster is made of dead person's body. By this, I think that the monster's appearance is too strange even Frankenstein got afraid of him.
 

  Also another part of the story, he said "Learn from me, at least by example, how dangerous is knowledge and how much happier is that man believes his native town to be the world than he who tries to become greater than his nature will allow". I think that Frankenstein wants to tell that knowing more than other people could be dangerous like him. He was too smart and knowledgeable that he made a creature that it is impossible to make. From this part, I think that he is regretting of making the creature that he made. Also, he is trying to tell that living in an ordinary way is better than living in uncommon life as him.

Downtown

  On Sunday, I went to downtown with my sister. My mom told me to choose her bag together. Before we went to the bag store we visited some other stores just to look around. There were many interesting things however we had only money for bag, so we just came out. When we almost arrived at the bag store we usually go, however the shop was closed. And that time I met my friend at there. She went there to buy some clothes. After meeting her, I and my sister wandered the downtown to find some places that sell bags. We found some places, however my sister couldn't find the one that she wanted. So, we just planned to spend the money for playing. At first, we bought some bread which is my favorite. Eating the bread, we just walked and walked. We found some new places that we had never been. We went in there and there were lots of places that sell our traditional things. We bought some food that my parents like. Again, we walked and walked. We found out that there is nothing to do for us. So, we just grab a taxi and went home. At home, we told everything to our parents and eat food that we bought.

The story of Frankenstein - Marry Shelley

  The story of Frankenstein background is the time when Columbus discovered the America. By finding America, Columbus got many things such as wealth, fame and honor. Because of this, many people try to find something new that nobody had ever founded. And Captain Walton, was also a person who wanted to find new thing. So he tries to find something in the Arctic. By his action, we could know that he is a typical example of the man in that era. The reason is because he also wanted to find something new that nobody found and that would bring him lots of things.

  Also I disagree that ignorance is bliss. If the president of the Italy ignored the Columbus, America wouldn't be founded or it might be an underdeveloped country. And there won't be many people who try to do something new or have courage. Ignoring makes people to be depressed and less active. Depress and not active person cannot make our society develop. If people ignore someone, our society would not be developed this much. So, I think that ignorance is not bliss.

Graduation

Today, my sister graduated her elementary school. I couldn't come because I had to stay at my school. At our school, we also did graduation. We sat on the chair and heard the principal speech. Before the speech, my friends and I went to supermarket and bought something to eat. During the graduation, we shared with friends and ate all of it. Also, we played some games during the graduation. Watching our senior graduating was not that fun. They just go up to the stage and get certification and get down to the stage. And about 400 seniors had to do it. Watching the same thing for 400 times does not seem fun. So we chat and played games. After graduation, only our class should clean the entire auditorium and put the chairs back. When I finished all my family went to Chinese restaurant to eat our lunch. It was hard but happy day. 

New years day

    I went to Yongin on monday because it was new year's day. We planned to eat lunch at there, so we left Wonju early in the morning. Because of getting up so early, I fell asleep as soon as I get on the car. It took about 2 hours getting Yongin. After we arrive, we waited for others to come. While waiting, my cousins gave me lots of chocolate for Valentine Day. She made all of those chocolate. However I just bought one bar of chocolate and gave it to her. I was so sorry for her just giving one bar of chocolate. When all of the cousins arrived, we ate short-rib stew, Korean style meatball, vegetable pancake and many other things. After eating lunch, we bowed to adults in Korean traditional style and got some money. We went to sauna with the money we got. It was a really special day for everyone because it is only once a year. And I think I spent the day happiest.

A Dark Brown Dog - Stephen Crane

  Some people think that heredity affects people's lives. They also think that the rich have a peaceful happy life and the poor are violent ones. These opinions could be right, but it could also be wrong. Rich could have more opportunities than poor. However, the most important thing is the will.

  In this story, boy kicked the dog when he felts frightened. The boy learned this from his father. His father does violent things when he is feeling bad or mad at something. In this part of the story, author was trying to say that social environment affects us a lot. Another part of the story, he hits his wife and throws things in the kitchen. Also, one part of the story, he allows the dog to stay at home. The reason was all of the family member refused and didn't like the dog to stay at the house. From this part of the story, author is trying to say that poor people are very cruel and violent. And they also like to oppose others just to create an argument.

  To compare with my experience, I have a friend who had a harsh life. Their parents always fight and they were very poor. Sometimes she even got beaten by her father, when his father was drunk. However, she was very kind and faithful person. She always studied hard and helped other people. Teachers also say that she is responsible student in our class. Like this, the opinion that the poor are always violent and cruel does not seem right. On the other hand, the rich could not live happy and peaceful life. To give an example, one of the Lee Kun Hee daughter commit suicide because of depression. They have lots of money and they are the richest people in Korea. By this, the rich does not always live a peaceful happy life. So, I think that the opinion is wrong.

Sister's birthday

Monday was my sister's birthday. She is now going to middle school and graduate elementary school. We actually knew the day before that her birthday was Monday. So, I didn't have any time to prepare for her birthday present. So, I sent a long message to celebrate her birthday. And I bought an ice cream for her, because she loves ice cream. When I got home, they already prepare for her birthday party. My mom made many delicious dishes and my father bought a huge strawberry cake. We sang a song for her and she blew up all the candles. I hope that it made her birthday happy.

Cousin's visit

  On weekend, my cousins visit us. They came to visit a family member's grave. They first visit the grave and then, came to our house. We tried to go to Oak Valley, however, it was too late and there were too many people. So we plan to return to home. While going home, my mom called me and asked us to watch some movie at the Lotte Cinema. Some of us liked it. However some of us said that they would rather go home and watch television. Other cousins, my younger sister and I watched Berlin. The postscript of Berlin was high. We expect it would be really fun. However we were kind of disappointed. I wasn't that fun as we expected. There were many action scenes and there weren't many stories. However, the actor and actress action were so fantastic! I was really amazed about their actions. After we saw the movie, we went to a restaurant to eat our dinner. The restaurant was so clean and tidy. We ate delicious roasted duck. It was best weekend on my vacation!

The Cut Glass Bowl - F.Scott Fizgerald

  Modernists claims that people should adapt the flows of era, not keeping the past. Learning from past and preventing from the same situation would be a good thing. However, the modernists think that keeping old things would make some troubles. And this story is an example of the troubles that happens when we keep the past things.

  The story 'The Cut Glass Bowl' it shows us the situations when we keep old past things. One part of the story, Evylyn was caught to her husband, cheating with another man. She was caught because of the glass bowl. The man she cheated tried to run away from the house, but he accidently hit the bowl and the bowl made a sound. Another part of the story, Evylyn's daughter, Julie had a blood poisons and she had to cut her hand. The blood poisons occurred because Julie was cut by a glass bowl. Also, when Evylyn's husband invited his family, they drank alcohol, which was contained in the glass bowl. After drinking it, they were drunk and said stupid things to each other. Because of it, they fight with each other. To add some more, Evylyn tries to break the glass bowl, because she thought that it was because of this glass bowl. However, when the glass bowl break, it pierced her and she die.

 To me living in modernistic is a good choice to live. When we look history book, we could see that same things are repeating again and again. And there are the reasons that the era of poverty is poor and the era of the wealthy is rich. We could learn things that were good and we could know and prevent things that are bad. Also, keeping the old things is not good choice. If we keep the past, we could not develop and we would just maintain the same thing. Living a life that is better would be benefit for our lives.

A new family member

  When I arrived at home after academy, my family told me there is a new family member. It was a cute brown dog. After they told me, I heard the dog crying. My sister went to her and brought for me. She first looked me and didn't come to me. When I pet her, she then came to me and licked my hand. I hold her until the drama was end. My mom scolded me that the fur of hers would stick to my clothes and they would smell a lot. I stuck my nose close to my clothes and sniff deeply. It truly does smell a lot. I changed my clothes and took all my clothes to the laundry. However, it was nice to get a new family member

Taking photo

  Today, I went to photo studio to take some pictures with my family. Me, my brother and my mom need passport pictures so before going to photo studio, we went to hairdresser's to cut and refine our hairs. At the photo studio, my younger brother took photo first. He was kind of stiff so the photographer said to smile little bit. He smiled like a scarecrow to shoo away crows. Then, it was my turn to take photo. I had to take of my glasses, because it's against the rule. When I checked my photo I was kind of disappointed, because I looked really angry. After me, it was my mom's turn. She took a hairbrush and combed her hair. It looked kind of funny to me. When everyone took photo and when the photo was all printed, we couldn't stop laughing. I looked angry and my mom looked scary. Also, my brother had different sizes of his nostril. It was really fun day, and I hope we could go to Thailand as soon as we could.

The Garden Lodge - Willa Cather

  Now days, many people are being very personal and egoistic. So the meaning of the modernist is who characterize something by their own self conscious. There is a saying that 'We should not live for ourselves but for others'. Living for others would make people to respect and admire of you.

  The story of 'The Garden Lodge' flows to present time and past time depending to the main character. By this story flow, we could know that this story is modernism. The reason is because modernism is mostly characterized by someone's own conscious. Also, in other part of the story, the main character thinks about she spending time with Raymond d'Esquerre. However, Raymond d'Esquerre was not a real person. He was a man that Caroline had imagined. By this part of the story, we could infer that this is modernism. Because the man was not a real person. He was a person who is made up from the main character. This stands that this is also characterized by her own self conscious.

  Many people are becoming egoistic and selfish. However becoming egoistic person have more drawbacks than advantage. People would dislike people who are egoistic. But if the person is kind and thoughful, people would admire the person. To give an example, Helen Keller was a disable person. However, she overcome her disablities and lived her all life helping young disables. Still, many people admire and want to emulate her. People want to follow thoughful and kind people like Helen Keller. People blame and criticize selfish people. Being egoistic and selfish would be comfortable and easy for us. However, other people would be more uncomfortable and tough. For me I would rather be kind and thoughful than becoming egoistic and selfish.

Nail polishing

Most of my friends have nail polished by themsleves. The nail looked pretty and so cute. So, I decided to polish my nail like as them. I bought some nail polishes on the way home, after playing with my friend. She helped me chose some of them. Though, I am not good at polishing I tried hard ones that looked nice. When I tried to put on, my hand was trembling so much. It was very ugly and horrible as like that there was an explosion. So, I tried some easy ones that amateur could do. Eventhough it was easy one, to me it was kind of hard. Especially polishing left hand was difficult, becuase I am a left handed. When I finish polishing all of my nail, it looked pretty good. I also, polished my younger brother's nail. And he kind of like it too.

Playing with my friend

After acadamy, I was so tired and starving. So, we decided to eat something near the lotte cinema. We wandered the street and finally decided the restaurant we will go.  There are only a few people so we could get seat easily. We thought for a long time to chose what we would eat. Finally, I chose spaghetti and my friend chose risotto. While we were waiting for the dishes, we talked about our friends and funny story. she told me that the taste of risotto wasn't that good. Mine was also not that good than I expected. After eating, we went to cosmetics store to buy some nail polishes. We put on some of them and chose three nail polishes. Then we went to singing room and sang almost 2hours. It was really excited and fun day. Playing with her, I release my stress!

At first, homosexual is very peculiar thing for me and other people, however now it is being generalize.

A Dark Brown Dog - Stephen Crane

  Some people think that  heredity effects people life. People who think and believe like this is a naturalists. If naturalists are true, poor people's children should be poor and rich people's children should be rich. However, like the secretary of general, Ban gi moon, he born in small and poor family in urban area. If naturalists are right, Ban gi moon couldn't be the secretary of general. He should cultivate rice in small farm.

  In the story 'A Dark Brown Dog' a boy hits the brown dog, when the dog follows him. The boy hits the dog, because he felt that the dog threat him. The boy's father always hit his family. So, the auther express that people's heredity effects people's behavior or attitude. Like this, some people do get effect from heredity, however if they tried to think not to follow them, it is possible not to get effect from family or heredity. Also, another part of the story, it shows that the boy's family is poor. And also they are very violent. By this, we could infer that auther has a stereotype that poor people are negative and violent. And rich people are possitive and less violent. However, it is not always right. Some rich are cruel and negative than poors. 

I think that heredity doesn't matter with people's life. Rich people would have more oppertunities than poor people. However, if they do not try or do not have will to do something, the poeple who try best and have will to do would succeed. Also, rich are more negative than poors. The president of Samsung daughter commit suicide. The reason was becuase she had depressive disorder. Most of the depressive disorder occur because of thinking negatively. Even though, she had much money, she commit suicide. Like Steve Jobs, he become rich by thinking possitive ways. So, to me, thinking effects more to people's life than heredity.  

After academy

Yesterday, my mother came to my academy to go home together. It took about 15 minutes to arrive at home. While we go to home, we saw an old man drunk. He was walking to the road. He went near to cars and said something. The driver also thought that he was drunk, so he tried to pass him. When the car passed him, he lost his balanced and fell down. He couldn't get up by himself, because he was drunk. Then, one young man came to him and tried to help him. I thought that people should drink alcohol not too much.

To Build a Fire - Jack London

  We feel cold more easier than Eskimo. In  north pole, it's more colder than where we live. It's even hard to see sun in that area. In this story, 'To Build a Fire' it is about a man's death during going to his base camp. We can know that he is very dull and insensitive. He kept going to the base camp, knowing that the weather is much colder than other times. This attitude shows that he might get some trouble or leading him to death. In our lives, we could also see people getting trouble, because of not being sensitive. And another part of this story, dog tried to stop going to the base camp, because he felt the weather is more colder. From dog's action we can know that dogs could be more smarter than people. Dogs couldn' t think however, they could sense things. Ability to think could be not good things at all. If we can't think smarter, having a sense like a dog could be better. Also, other part of the story the dog felt that it wasn't good way to go to the base camp. However, he didn't let his master know. The reason was that the master didn't treat the dog nicely. Even the dog can't speak like people, they could feel as like as people do. From dog's attitude, we should treat dog nicely like we do to the people.

 

Delicious dakgalbi!

Today, my father went to Chuncheon, because of his business. On the way home, he bought dakgalbi for us. He said that it was too expensive for a portion. Mother cooked the dakgalbi while we were watching television. Before finish cooking it, we set the tables and helped mom. When dakgalbi was ready, we sat together in a circle and eat it. We ate so fastly that it disappeared in 10 minutes. It was very delicious, but little bit spicy. After eating it, we watched television together. It was a very gratifying weekend.

Extracts From Adam's Diary - Mark Twain

  Realisim is a mind that people think more about realistic things and not thinking about ideal things. The story 'Extracts From Adam's Diary' talks about the life of the Adam's. In this story Adam think curious about why the bird name is dodo. By this part of the story, we could find out that Adam is a romantic person. Now a day, people usually don't think why sky is blue, or why cat name is cat. However, when we were young we usually asked our parents why sky is blue and why cat's name is cat. When we were young, everybody has mind of ideal things. I think that at first, Adam was a lazy person like a children. And another part of the story, Adam and Eve try to find who the childrens are. They try to guess that they are animals. However, Adam and Eve thought that they are not animals. The reason is becuase, they do not hope like a frog, they do not fly like a bird. We could find out that Adam and Eve are changing to the realisitic people. They don't just guess who they are. They told the each reasons why they are not a frog or birds. We could know that this story is changing romanticism to realisim.

  As our society grows, it changes alot. Most of the people in our world live in a realistic life. They care money and properties more than other things. Some people even kill their parents to get money. Like this, realisim could make people extreme. So, I think we should decrease the mind of realisim and try to think in romanticism. We could brake out the stereotype and think many other ways. Thinking many other ways could make our society better and develop. However, we should also have a realisitic mind too. Only having romantic mind could also harm us.
